Realm of destiny

The darkness of the night reigns supreme,
So empty yet much lies deep within.
Enchantment describes best tonight's theme,
So beautiful yet mysteriously thin.

Nightingales conjour a melodious tune,
Owls supplement with occasional hoots.
The sky brightens up with the rare blue moon,
Spilling sapphire light on the doorstep boots.

Fireflies furnish the lifeless trees,
While crickets breathe life into the murky air.
Long gone are the humming busy bees,
What's left are only lurking crocs with sharp jaws bare.

Nightlife proceeds just as planned,
As though it was a scripted play.
But soon all activities will be banned,
With the break of a brand new day.

A shrilling cry a cock lets loose,
With it ember emerges from the deep blue.
As nocturnals return to hang by their noose,
one awakes and finds that one can only make do.

TWENTY-FOUR

Twenty-four months since I first saw you,
Twenty-four days since I first talked to you,
Twenty-four hours since I last phoned you,
Twenty-four minutes since I last thought of you.
